< < Back to woubs-shaw-and-the-storytelling-institutes-harter-grab-3-emmy-nominationsOn June 6, the 53rd Annual Ohio Valley Regional EMMY Award nominations were announced and WOUB Public Media and the Barbara Geralds Institute for Storytelling and Social Impact at Ohio University garnered three nominations in three different categories.
Two documentaries were the reasons for the nominations.
The Acoustics of Care, a digital documentary was produced as a joint project between WOUB Public Media and the Storytelling Institute. Both Dr. Lynn Harter and Evan Shaw received nominations for the film in the “Arts and Entertainment Program” category.
“The documentary explores the work of artists who are shifting the sounds of healing through music, storytelling, and dialogue, “says Dr. Harter. “It is our hope that this film enlarges viewers’ sense of what it means to acknowledge and respond to another in the midst of suffering.”
Dr. Harter and Shaw were assisted in making the film by Maggie Quinlan of the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
Shaw also received two additional nominations for the third film in a historical series documenting the history and culture of communities across Appalachian Ohio. Our Town: Nelsonville was again co-produced by WOUB Public Media and the Storytelling Institute.
Shaw was nominated for awards in the categories of “Writer-Program” and as “Director-Non-Live (Post Produced).”
This makes the fourth consecutive year that the team of Dr. Harter and Shaw have collectively received multiple nominations.
Both WOUB Public Media and the Barbara Geralds Institute for Storytelling and Social Impact are part of the Scripps College of Communication at Ohio University.
The EMMY awards are presented annually by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Ohio Valley Chapter and will be awarded at the EMMY Gala, August 5 at The Lawrenceburg Event Center in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
