Accused Pill Mill Operator Asks To Withdraw Guilty Plea
< < Back to accused-pill-mill-operator-asks-withdraw-guilty-pleaA woman who pleaded guilty to participating in a southern Ohio pill mill linked to overdose deaths has asked a judge to withdraw the plea as she and her daughter are about to be sentenced.
A lawyer for Denise Huffman says in a federal court filing Monday that she was confused when she entered the plea a year ago.
She and daughter Alice Huffman each pleaded guilty to one count of operating Tri-State Health Care and Pain Management clinic as a place whose primary purpose was the illegal distribution of prescription drugs.
They face several years in prison if sentenced as scheduled Tuesday.
Alice Huffman has blamed her participation on her mother.
Both testified earlier against a Chicago doctor convicted of causing the death of four clinic patients who overdosed.
