Ohio Unemployment Rate Up Slightly In July

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services released last month's job figures on Friday showing the state's unemployment rate at 5.7 percent. That's up from the seasonally adjusted rate in May and June of 5.5 percent.
The state's unemployment rate remained below the nation's jobless rate, which was 6.2 percent for July.
Ohio's nonfarm wage and salary employment decreased 12,400 over the last month. And the number of unemployed workers in Ohio in July rose by 7,000 – from 316,000 in June to 323,000 in July.
Last year, July's unemployment rate was 7.5 percent.
