< < Back to writers-harvest-benefit-ohio-food-bankOhio University’s Creative Writing Program will present Writers Harvest, a benefit for hunger relief, on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Walter Hall Rotunda.
Proceeds from the $5 (suggested) admission will benefit the Southeastern Ohio Food Bank. A book signing and reception will follow.
This year, Writers Harvest, the nation’s largest reading series working to help fight hunger, will feature OU professor of poetry and award-winning author Mark Halliday and nationally acclaimed fiction writer Donald Ray Pollock.
“Last year’s Writers Harvest raised around $1,000 for the local food bank. Our goal this year is $1,500,” said David Wanczyk, director of Special Programs and nonfiction teaching fellow in the Ohio University Department of English.
The Southeastern Ohio Food Bank is a food distribution program serving Athens, Hocking, Perry, Vinton, Jackson, Gallia, Meigs, Morgan and Washington counties.
Donations will be accepted outside Baker Center on Monday and Tuesday, and at the door on Tuesday evening. There will also be a raffle at the event where attendees can win signed books, gift certificates to local restaurants, and tickets to theater shows.
Writers Harvest is presented with support from the Ohio University College of Arts & Sciences, the College of Fine Arts and Arts for Ohio. For information about the event, contact the Special Programs Office, Bentley Annex 303, at 740-707-3191.
