Amesville Wins Energy-Saving Reward
< < Back to amesville-wins-energy-saving-rewardThe village of Amesville is being awarded $650 from AEP Ohio in recognition of the community’s participation in an energy-saving program.
According to Mayor Gary Goosman, “The village will use the award money to install a solar system on Amesville’s history kiosk in Gifford Park.”
The solar system will power a digital picture frame that will present historical information about Amesville, he said.
AEP Ohio and the village began partnering in July with a pilot program aimed at helping residents and businesses reduce energy use and costs.
During the summer months local residents were encouraged to take advantage of home energy audits, appliance rebates and appliance recycling as part of this effort.
“The program helps to educate residents about our energy-saving programs as well as the many solutions and incentives available for businesses,” said Jon Williams, energy efficiency and consumer programs manager for AEP Ohio.
Goosman said the village had a goal of getting 12 businesses or residents to participate, and so far 13 have agreed to take part in the AEP Ohio Energy Savers program, with a month left in the program.
“We’ll keep at it to see if more businesses and residents will participate,” the mayor said.
The formal check presentation to the village will take place at the Village Council meeting scheduled for October 8 at 6 p.m.
