< < Back to jackson-caps-undefeated-season-drops-gallia-academyThis Halloween, both teams dressed up in a layer of mud. Jackson (10-0, 4-0) even adorned some junior varsity uniforms in order to keep their new varsity ones clean.
It was a battle against both Jackson and the elements for Gallia Academy. The Blue Devils (4-6, 2-2) hooves just couldn’t find any footing. The Ironmen, however, experienced no such trouble. They ran over Gallia by a final of 48-14.
Jackson’s running game finished with 23 rushes totaling 286 yards in the first half alone. The Blue Devils managed only 25 yards total on 18 plays.
Running was the only option. Both teams had no passing yards the entire first half. However, Jackson quarterback Hunter Sexton still managed to add 44 yards and a touchdown to his résumé.
Sophomore running back Johnny Farley ripped off a 44-yard run right up the gut to the house. In the first half, Farley totaled 130 yards and two touchdowns while junior halfback Jake Crabtree finished with 88 yards and three touchdowns.
That was all of the action coach Andy Hall wanted his starters to see after amassing a 41-0 lead at the half. Most of the starters were taken out by the second half. It was easy to pick out the back-ups because of their clean white jerseys.
Gallia Academy’s twos put points on the board, but it was too little, too late for the Blue Devils.
With this win, Jackson finishes the regular season undefeated for the first time since 2011 and a rigorous road to the D-III state finals lies ahead.
