Recap: Trimble Caps Off Consecutive Undefeated Seasons With Blowout Win Over Fed Hock [VIDEO]

The Trimble Tomcats overcame bad weather to pick up the 60-12 season finale victory over Federal Hocking on senior night in Glouster. The similar suspects lead the way for Trimble, with Justice Jenkins and Austin Downs combining for three touchdowns during the game.
The game was filled with sloppy play, which could mostly be attributed to the heavy rain and rough field conditions. Neither squad could hang onto the ball with the teams combining for three consecutive turnovers to start the game. Both teams were also hurt by penalties, particularly the Tomcats (10-0, 9-0 TVC-Hocking), who had two touchdowns called back in just the first half.
Tomcats running back and Gridiron Glory Player of the Year finalist Justice Jenkins was looking to send his seniors out with a bang, picking off the ball on the first play of the game then diving for another pick after his team fumbled on their first run. Federal Hocking (2-8, 2-6 TVC-Hocking) quarterback, A.J. Cobb, struggled to move the ball against the tough Tomcat defense and was really only able to complete passes within 10 yards.
Jenkins also kicked off the scoring for his Tomcats when he busted off a 25-yard touchdown run towards the end of the first quarter. Once the Tomcats got on the board, they did not look back. The field seemed to open up for them and they had no trouble finding first downs despite the horrible conditions.
Federal Hocking appeared to be containing the Tomcats to begin the game but started to look outmatched once the second quarter rolled around.
Downs was able to double down on touchdowns in the second quarter, helping his team jump out to 20-0 lead in the middle of the second quarter. His fellow senior, Terry Simerly, tried to get some action of his own with a receiving touchdown in the back of the endzone from Andrew Losey with four minutes left in the first half. Losey was able to throw some nice deep balls despite the rain, and his receivers certainly were not upset about it.
Downs saw many targets in his last regular season home game in Glouster. While he already holds all of Trimble’s school receiving records, Downs was also able to move into the top 5 for single-season receiving touchdowns in the state of Ohio.
For Federal Hocking, the disappointing season an end, finishing near the bottom of the TVC-Hocking. But for the Tomcats, it’s another successful season, as they finished second in Division VII, Region 25 and will host their first round playoff game next Saturday.
