OU Professor Attends “TV 101” Class In Los Angeles
< < Back to ou-professor-attends-tv-101-class-los-angelesA lucky member of the Ohio University community was one of 20 professors from across the country chosen to attend a television seminar in Los Angeles.
While on the trip, Media Arts and Studies professor Roger Cooper says he learned the tools necessary to inspire students to pursue future careers in television. "We interacted with directors, producers, show runners, editors, cinematographers. Basically, they kind of gave use tools of the trade so we could take it back to our universities and help prepare students for success," said Cooper.
The Television Academy has hosted the TV 101 week-long seminar for the last 24 years.
Cooper says the experience only reinforced his belief that OU students are well-positioned for television industry jobs. "We have fantastic students in our school of Media Arts and Studies. They get great opportunities to do just that, to collaborate with each other, to tell stories, create, to think outside the box and that's really wht the television industry is looking for now," explained Cooper.
Cooper says he knows the industry is highly competitive, but says if a student has passion they can find their place among future tv leaders.
Cooper was a guest on WOUB TV's Newswatch program last night.
