U.S. Attorney Mike Stuart tells news outlets 44-year-old Eugene Wells was arrested in September at Miranda Brandon’s Charleston home. Brandon and Sherry Gray were also arrested. Stuart says the arrests led to more Monday, but didn’t provide names.
Those arrested are accused of drug trafficking in the organization between Charleston and Akron, Ohio. It’s unclear if they have lawyers who could comment.
Stuart says authorities had warrants to search Brandon’s home and Wells’ Akron home. He says they found more than 600 grams of suspected fentanyl, 1,400 grams of heroin and 700 grams of meth, and that the fentanyl seized was enough to potentially cause nearly 300,000 users to fatally overdose.
