The Huntress and Holder of Hands II Gladden House Sessions 2019

For five years, MorganEve Swain performed with her husband Dave Lamb in lauded folk band Brown Bird, the final incarnation of which was simply the husband and wife duo. Lamb passed away in 2014 at the tragically young age of 35, and in the aftermath of his passing, Swain created The Huntress and Holder of Hands to channel her journey through grief, widowhood, and healing. She continued recording in their studio in Warren, Rhode Island, releasing The Water Street Demos in 2015, and added four members in 2016 to make it possible to perform her musical creations in a live setting.
The Huntress and Holder of Hands is a string and bass-driven band that combines post-metal, churning blues, and dark Americana with cathartic, haunting lyricism. The band’s first full length album together, Avalon (Supply and Demand Music), was released in September 2017. A new album is on the horizon in the coming year.
The Huntress and Holder of Hands performed a spellbinding set to close out the Gladden House Sessions Saturday night. Joining Swain was Liz Isenberg (double bass), Ana Mallozzi (cello), Rachel Blumberg(drums), and Christopher Sadlers (electric bass). The band performed “Call to Arms,” “Borealis,” “Creatures In Flight,” and “Shake Off Your Flesh” all from 2017’s Avalon.
