Jackson County Confirms First Two Positive Cases of COVID-19

JACKSON, Ohio (WOUB) — Jackson County has confirmed the first two cases of COVID-19 in the county.
The first case was confirmed the night of Tuesday, April 7 in a release from Jackson County Health Commissioner Kevin Aston. The second positive case was confirmed by the health department on Facebook Wednesday, April 8.
One patient is a man in his 60s who has been hospitalized, according to data from the Ohio Department of Health. The other patient is a woman in her 70s who has not been hospitalized.
The health department asks that you do not call them with questions about the cases, as they work to identify all contacts. They will notify anyone they identify.
The Ohio Department of Health confirmed 5,148 positive cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, April 8 at 2 p.m.
The DOH makes the following recommendations to protect yourself from illness:
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; dry hands with a clean towel or air dry hands.
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are unavailable.
- Cover your mouth with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Avoid contact with people who are sick.
