Where To View Fireworks On Independence Day Weekend In Southeast Ohio
< < Back to ?p=255683ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — Many fireworks celebrations and festivals have been cancelled this year due to COVID-19, but a number of communities still have fireworks shows on the schedule for this weekend or next weekend. Here is a list of fireworks shows we found across southern and eastern Ohio:
Athens County
ATHENS
The City of Athens’ annual fireworks display is scheduled for Friday, July 3, at 10pm. The best viewing is at the east end of East State Street, according to the city. Parking is available at the shopping center, or viewers may use the bike path. There are no other sponsored activities or events. Spectators are asked to maintain a safe social distance and wear a face mask.
NELSONVILLE
Thunder in the Valley is scheduled Saturday, July 4 at 10pm on the Hocking College campus.
Due to COVID-19 precautions, there will be no bleachers, picnic tables, food vendors, or portable toilets available for spectators. Parking at the college is limited to every other spot. People coming for the fireworks are encouraged to practice social distancing, use face coverings, and bring their own seating.
Jackson County
OAK HILL
The Oak Hill Athletic Boosters are sponsoring fireworks Saturday, July 4 at 10pm.
WELLSTON
Wellston Main Street announced there will be a fireworks display Saturday, July 4. Parking spots include the Bundy School lot, 11th Street behind the football field, and the Frick/Gallagher lot across from Piggly Wiggly. There is no time listed.
Meigs County
MIDDLEPORT
According to the Middleport Business Association, there will be fireworks Saturday, July 4 at 10pm launched near Dairy Queen. All spectators are asked to practice social distancing and stay in their vehicles if possible.
RACINE
The Racine Fire Department announced in June that fireworks will be set off at Star Mill Park Saturday, July 4 at 10pm.
Morgan County
MCCONNELSVILLE
The Morgan County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring fireworks on Friday, July 3, at 10pm, according to the Morgan County Herald. The Morgan County Health Department encourages spectators to stay in their vehicles while viewing the fireworks and asks people not to gather in large groups.
Muskingum County
NEW CONCORD
The New Concord Fire Department is sponsoring a fireworks show Friday, July 10, at 10pm.
Perry County
CORNING
Saturday, July 11, 2020 – more to be announced, according to the Perry County Chamber of Commerce.
JUNCTION CITY
Fireworks are scheduled Sunday, July 5, 2020 at 10pm according to the Perry County Chamber of Commerce. There will be hand washing stations placed throughout the park.
NEW LEXINGTON
Fireworks are scheduled Saturday, July 4, 2020 at the fairgrounds, according to the Perry County Chamber of Commerce.
NEW STRAITSVILLE
Fireworks are scheduled at Begley Campground, according to the Perry County Chamber of Commerce. There is no time or date listed.
Ross County
CHILLICOTHE
Chillicothe Country Club will set off fireworks Friday, July 3 after a members-only 4th of July celebration.
Scioto County
PORTSMOUTH
Friends of Portsmouth is presenting fireworks at 10pm Saturday, July 4 at Spartan Stadium Practice Field. Guests are encouraged to stay in or near their vehicles and practice social distancing.
