Community Paddle on Leesville Lake
October 25, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
FreeMineral City, Ohio — Rural Action’s Huff Run Watershed Team will host a Community Paddle on Leesville Lake from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25. In case of bad weather, the paddle will be Nov. 1 from 2 p.m. -4 p.m.
Before getting on the water, participants will learn about the history of Leesville Lake and the Conotton Creek Watershed. An experienced kayaker will also provide tips to ensure that everyone stays dry while kayaking.
“Kayaking and canoeing are great ways to experience the incredible water assets in our community,” AmeriCorps member Vicki Irr says. “Being able to get out on the water really helps you to appreciate how hard everyone works to keep our waterways healthy.”
The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District is providing 10 solo kayaks and 2 tandem kayaks for participants to borrow, but because of limited availability, please bring your own kayak or canoe if you own one.
Boaters will meet at 2 p.m. at Leesville Lake South Fork Marina, 4131 Deer Road SW in Bowerston, OH, for sign-in. Face coverings will be required during registration but not on the water. Due to the colder temperatures this time of year, it is recommended that participants have some previous kayaking experience.
Since refreshments will be provided and there are a limited number of kayaks to loan, registration is required for this event. Visit www.ruralaction.org/communitypaddle to register.
If you have questions or register and later realize you can’t attend the event, please email vicki@ruralaction.org.
