– Join Bob Costas for a Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Acclaimed Series That Explores America’s National Pastime –
Hosted by acclaimed sportscaster Bob Costas, KEN BURNS: BASEBALL celebrates the epic series Baseball, which examined nearly 200 years of American history through the prism of our national pastime. Featuring new and exclusive interviews with Burns, Lynn Novick, and others from the filmmaking team, this PBS special goes behind-the-scenes to explore the making of the Emmy Award-winning series. It also weaves together the most emotional moments from the documentary and explores the larger-than-life personalities — from Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig to Jackie Robinson and Mickey Mantle — who became national icons.
Additional interviewees include Bob Kendrick, President of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and Marcos Breton, columnist for The Sacramento Bee, who talk about the impact BASEBALL has had on America. Major themes explored throughout the documentary are race, business, labor relations and the relationship between baseball and society.
