A New Initiative for Public Television Stations and Members

ATHENS, OH – From September 2021 to Spring 2023, nearly 3,000 episodes from the American Public Television (APT) content catalog will be available on WOUB Passport for qualifying members to stream free. These episodes, which consist of one-off specials and seasons of long-standing series, will be released in collections of 300-500 episodes every two to three months over the next two years.

WOUB Passport is a streaming service that currently provides extended access to a digital, on-demand library of more than 1,500 episodes of PBS favorites and local programming. It’s an added benefit available to WOUB members who donate at least $60 a year.

Beginning September 1, WOUB Passport members will be able to stream episodes of popular cooking series including America’s Test Kitchen from Cook’s Illustrated, Cook’s Country, Nick Stellino: Storyteller in the Kitchen, Simply Ming, Pati’s Mexican Table, Christopher Kimball’s Milk Street Television, and Lidia’s Kitchen; military and history documentary films; self-help programs; content that reflects our collective diversity and experiences; and travel series including Real Rail Adventures, Rick Steves Best of the Alps and Rick Steves Europe Awaits.

“We are pleased to partner with PBS and share the wealth of the APT catalog, presenting current favorite series and episodes that will double the current Passport offerings by early 2023,” notes Cynthia Fenneman, president and CEO of APT. “These programs demonstrate the wide range of topics and genres APT has distributed to stations since 1961. We celebrate APT’s 60th anniversary this year and contribute to the future of public television by providing enriching digital content.”

Expected future releases – which include additional food and travel titles, home and gardening series, documentary specials, public affairs programming, as well as drama and concert performances – are planned over the next 18 months in late November 2021, March 2022, June 2022, August 2022, late November 2022, and March 2023.
