Ironton Shuts Out Gallia Academy, Affirm Their Ohio Valley Conference Dominance
< < Back to ?p=272631GALLIPOLIS, Ohio (WOUB) — The Gallia Academy Blue Devils welcomed the Ironton Fighting Tigers to Memorial Field for their last home game of the season.
Ironton had no trouble as they went on the beat the Blue Devils 43-0. Their first score coming within the first five minutes of the game with a short run by Jaquez Keyes. They tacked on another in the first quarter with another short run by Landon Wilson.
QB Tayden Carpenter after dealing with injury throughout the first half of the season, wasted no time as he reared back and sent one in the air for a 70-yard touchdown.
Gallia Academy struggled to find positive yardage as the Tiger defense was making big plays on the ground.
The first half of the year Ironton faced several struggles with the absence of their quarterback, including a loss against Archbishop Moeller.
With the return of Carpenter, the offense has settled in and turned their sights on the playoffs. The team is ranked 4th throughout the division V conference.
Last season the squad proved to be successful throughout the tournament as they made it all the way to the state championship before falling to Kirtland.
Under the lead of Trevon Pendleton, the team is looking to make big strides again this season.
To wrap up their season Gallia Academy travels to South Point while Ironton hosts Portsmouth.
