Tri-Valley Scotties defeat John Glenn to secure the MVL title

The Tri-Valley Scotties hosted the John Glenn Little Muskies on Friday night in a bout that would determine the fate of the MVL title. Both teams were undefeated in conference play heading into this week, meaning a win for each side would result in sole possession of the MVL title.
The Scotties entered this game with seven straight wins and were hot off a victory last week against MVL rival Sheridan. The Little Muskies started the season 0-2, but entered the game with 6 straight wins and a huge victory over MVL opponent Philo.
The first half was a defensive battle between the two sides as both teams’ defensive backfield shut down the passing game with two picks a piece. The game was held scoreless in the first quarter until 4:28 in the second quarter, when Drew Burkhart would connect with Jalen Goins-Chandler to put Tri-Valley on the board 6-0.
Goins-Chandler was critical on the ensuing drive, catching three deep passes that would put the Scotties in the red zone. With 12 seconds left in the first half, John Glenn would find themselves on the ropes on the Tri-Valley 41 yard-line.
Their luck would soon change, as Brad Morgan would fire to Colt Emerson in the endzone on a hail mary to give the Little Muskies a 7-6 lead at halftime.
The second half saw both sides trade three and outs respectively due to tight defensive pressure from both sides. This would soon change, as a momentum shift occurred for the Scotties when Colt Emerson was ejected for targeting on Alex Williams midway through the second.
Tri-Valley would be fired up from this play and it showed on the field. The Scotties next drive saw Goins-Chandler break away from two defenders in the endzone and toe-tap a deep ball a 21 yard pass from Burkhart in the endzone to give the Scotties a 13-7 lead. Tri-Valley would keep their energy and finish the game with a score of 20-7.
Tri-Valley finishes the season as MVL champs with a record of 8-1. QB Drew Burkhart ended his impressive regular season campaign with 154 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, and 144 rushing yards, including a 77 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
As for John Glenn, they finish the season with a 6-3 regular season record. Both teams are projected to compete in the playoffs.
