Pipeline Explosion Analysis Report Completed
< < Back to pipeline-explosion-analysis-report-completedA third party analysis of the Tennessee Gas pipeline that exploded in November in Morgan County shows a crack in a girth weld may be to blame.
A spokeswoman for the El Paso Corporation parent company says the metallurgical report indicates soil movement similar to a landslide event may have caused the shallow crack. She says the report is only one tool for investigators in determining how the explosion occurred.
The explosion destroyed a Homer Township farmhouse and cost more than $1.3 million in public and private property damage.
A root cause analysis report is due to the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration by January 16.
