Bloom-Carroll back to winning ways with a confident boosting victory over Jonathan Alder

PLAIN CITY, Ohio (WOUB) — Bloom-Carroll traveled to non-conference opponent Johnathan Alder for its first road game this season, earning a dominant 35-0 victory.
To start off the game the Bulldogs did what they do best as they created a scoring drive right off the bat. The drive ended with a one-yard touchdown run into the endzone from Chase Plantz which had the Bulldogs up early.
It wasn’t just the offense that got going early, but the defense found their rhythm and was unstoppable.
Quarterback Ethan Thanthanavong went 12-for-17 on passing with 101 yards. Thanthanavong got the passing game going especially when he found and threw a dime to Brodyn Bishop for the eight-yard score.
In just the first half the Bulldogs had four different players find the endzone.
“We have some depth at some positions so we’ve been working on some ways to make sure we can utilize those guys in various positions,” Bloom-Carroll Head Coach Jeremy McKinney said. And the Bulldogs certainly found ways to use a variety of different players on both sides of the ball.
An interception from Collin Willet helped continue the momentum for the Bulldogs. When the Pioneers tried to respond to the Bulldogs they failed to create opportunities for big plays.
Willet’s interception led to a scoring drive where Andrew Marshall broke through a number of tackles and found the goal line.
The Bulldogs offense did not give the Pioneers defense a break all game. A huge part of that high power offense came from running back Dylan Armentrout. Armentrout had 18 carries for 175 yards and one touchdown on the night. The result of the touchdown was a 69-yard run past the goal line to put them up four scores heading into halftime.
The Bulldog defense resembled the offense performing as they prevented the Pioneers from finding the endzone again in the second half. They scored once more and defensively held the Pioneers.
It’s crucial for the Bulldogs to fix the amount of costly penalties which have been a problem on drives that could’ve led to points on the board.
“I’d like to get rid of some of those penalties,” McKinney said. “We had two touchdowns called back on penalties, we had a kickoff return for a touchdown and an interception return for a touchdown called back for penalties.”
Bloom-Carroll heads back on the road Friday to face off against Circleville for its first conference matchup of the season.
