Huntington falls to Paint valley in schools first playoff game in history

BAINBRIDGE, Ohio (WOUB) — The Huntington Huntsmen got their very first opportunity in history to make the playoffs in the Friday night game against the Paint Valley Bearcats. While the Huntsmen bared a massive fight, the opportunity turned into a disappointing loss 50-6.
The Bearcats were able to gain 466 offensive yards and 141 passing yards throughout the game, while Huntington snatched 107 yards and only 19 passing. Huntington turned the ball over three times and the Bearcats were able to take advantage with their eagerness on offense.
Paint Valley put their name on the board twice in the first half as RB Don Chambers was able to bring it home, after a huge run by Braylon Robertson for 29-yards to set them up for success. Shortly after Cavan Cooper made a complete pass to Camden Cooper for nine yards to put them up 14-0.
Chambers outshined yet again into the second as he dashed 45-yards to the house to extend the Paint Valley lead to 21. With a hefty defensive performance put on by the Bearcats, the Huntsmen’s Weston Taylor found himself stuck in the middle of the mess, then somehow got himself out and around to run 27-yards to the crib for their one and only touchdown of the night, 21-6.
The Bearcats were not done there, with an insane throw 35-yard throw from Cavan Cooper to Carson Free to score their final time before the half, 31-6. After a few calls by the referees, frustration built for Huntington and the tension was high. Throughout the chaos, there is no doubt the Huntington fanbase was very encouraging.
Heading back to the field after halftime, it was all Paint Valley there on out. Cavan Cooper was the man with an additional two touchdowns in the third. For one, he runs 12 yards for the score and a whopping 46-yard clean pass to his right hand man, Carson Free. To call this one a blowout, 43-6.
The energy began to die out heading into the fourth, with the addition of cold weather. CJ Manion was able to fit in one more scoring run for 4-yard for a final score 50-6. The Bearcats ended with 325 rushing yards on the night. Paint Valley will move on in the playoffs, while the Huntsmen see the end of a hard-fought road.
