A project to upgrade Township Road 209 to State Route 607 in Morgan County is scheduled to begin work this spring.

Officials from the Ohio Department of Transportation says crews from a private construction company R.F. Scurlock will realign a little more than a half-mile of road between the McConnelsville National Guard Training Site and the ODOT Morgan County garage.

R. F. Scurlock was awarded a contract for approximately $1.5 million in December of 2011.

ODOT District 10 Deputy Director T. Steve Williams says this project will bring positive changes to the county because it will make the area more attractive for economic development.

The second phase of the project includes resurfacing both ends of the new State Route 607 and is expected to sell in January, 2013.
