Ohio Ready to Learn Workshop Series 2023
This free interactive workshop series is designed for family child care professionals and other early childhood education professionals. Each workshop in the series is approved for Step Up to Quality credit and is funded by a grant from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services to the Ohio Educational Television Stations (PBS Stations).
Scientific Inquiry with Nature:
This workshop will focus on helping participants recognize how to support the development of scientific inquiry skills in preschoolers. Participants will learn how to encourage children to use their natural curiosity to explore nature.
Language and Literacy:
Participants will learn about creating meaningful learning activities and experiences that support language and literacy development from toddlers to Pre-Kindergarten. Caregivers will learn strategies for building phonological awareness and activities that encourage children in language development and early literacy.
Playful Learning with Arts and Writing:
Participants will learn ways to provide meaningful literacy experiences where children develop an understanding of the meaning of language and early writing development through art. Participants will learn that early writing is both a literacy activity and a fine motor skill.
Child Development:
Participants will learn about the developmental milestones of the whole child. They will learn about the developmental stages of motor development and emotional well being from infants and toddlers to pre-kindergarten. During these years motor skills are perfected. Creativity and imagination starts to shine. Caregivers will learn about the social emotional developmental stages of children, and learn about meaningful learning experiences that build growth.
Ohio Ready to Learn is a series of early childhood workshops that are funded through the Department of Job and Family Services. Workshops are provided for home daycare providers and private childcare providers. All of the workshops are “Ohio Approved” by The Ohio Child Care Resource and Referral Association. These are all part of the “Step Up to Quality Initiative” in Ohio. These workshops are searchable in The Ohio Child Care Referral Agency – OCCRRA by the corresponding ST numbers listed below.
