Volunteers To Take Point In Time Count Of Homeless Population
< < Back to volunteers-take-point-time-count-homeless-populationCounseling Center volunteers in Portsmouth will spend next week recording the number of homeless people living in the surrounding areas.
The Center will take the Point In Time count by asking the homeless to go to the Scioto County Homeless Shelter where they will receive blankets, hand-warmers, and other necessities.
Colleen Eary works for the Center and says the volunteer work force is crucial in order to better serve the community. "I think it's very important because these people need a place to stay," She says. "These are the people that don't have any roof at all over their head."
Volunteers for the program must go to a training course before being able to participate. Eary says the more help they can get, the better.
The training session is tomorrow and the count is begins at midnight on January 24.
