Gov. Mike DeWine awards arts grants to 10 southeast Ohio organizations
< < Back to southeast-ohio-arts-organizations-arts-grantsATHENS, Ohio — Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced $23 million in arts grants will be given to organizations across the state, including 10 in southeast Ohio.
Among the organizations receiving grants are Stuart’s Opera House, located in Nelsonville, and the Bowen House in Logan. Stuart’s will receive over $100,000 in grant money.
The funds are part of the first round of the Ohio Arts Economic Relief Grant Program. Almost 140 organizations in 35 counties are receiving grants.
“Ohio’s arts communities are an integral part of why Ohio stands out as a great place to live and a great place to visit,” said DeWine. “These grants will help ensure that communities continue to have access to the programming and learning experiences Ohioans love.”
Funding may be used to help compensate, rehire and recruit employees, as well as for training expenses, rent or mortgage payments and operating costs.
The program was created in partnership with the Ohio General Assembly and merged into House Bill 45.
A total of $50 million will be given in arts grants after the second wave is announced. That announcement is expected in the coming weeks.
