< < Back to ?p=299549GALLIPOLIS, Ohio (WOUB)—Gallia Academy came into Friday night with a 3-0 record and took on fellow undefeated team Chesapeake.
Going into the game the Blue Devils expected to come out on top with no complications, yet they were in for a rude awakening. The Devils kicked off the game with a splash, as running back Kenyon Franklin scored the first touchdown, but no field goal to follow. This made the score 6-0 with 6:37 to go in the first quarter.
The Panthers showed some offensive power with Camron Shockley, scoring a touchdown, but it ended up getting called back for a flag. With the Devils back on offense Kenyon Franklin put up another touchdown, this time the Devils made the extra point, 13-0. A deja vu feeling for the Panthers as Shockley scored another touchdown, yet a flag was thrown, and it was called back.
After these mistakes by the Panthers, they did not give up easily, and Philp Thacker took an interception to the house. Yet, it got called back for a wandering whistle blown incorrectly. Luckily, they still ended up putting up their first score of the game, with a QB sneak by Jacob Harris, making it 13-6. With 50 Seconds left in the half Devils QB Braylan Rathburn throws a dime down the field to Franklin for a touchdown to make it 19-6.
About 40 seconds left the Panthers still had some fight left. Pushing down the field, they ended up getting a touchdown by Mikey Rose pulled out the acrobatics, crazy juggling the ball back and fourth. The Panthers then ran it in for a 2-point conversion.
The Panthers fell apart in the second half of the game and ended up losing 47-21.
They are now 3-1 as they face Coal Grove next week.
The undefeated Devils are now 4-0 and next week’s game against Portsmouth.
