Ice Hockey: Lindenwood Finishes Weekend Sweep Of Ohio
< < Back to ice-hockey-lindenwood-finishes-weekend-sweep-ohioIn a matchup featuring the last two CSCHL Champions, Lindenwood (21-4-0) took down Ohio (21-9-1) 4-2 on Saturday night sweeping their weekend series vs. the Bobcats.
Ohio managed to get off to a better start than their previous outing vs. the Lions but still struggled to score as they only lit the lamp twice on 42 shots.
The Bobcats trailed early in the first period when Cam Chinnery scored to put Lindenwood up 1-0 midway through the first period.
Ohio soon responded with a Jonathan Gulch goal to enter the first intermission tied at 1-1.
That would be the lone bright spot on the night for Ohio as Lindenwood went on to score three consecutive goals to put the game out of reach at 4-1.
The Bobcats tried to scratch their way back, adding a late power play goal to get within two, but it was much too late as they wound up losing for the second consecutive night.
The loss drops the Bobcats to 21-9-1 overall and to 0-7 in games vs. opponents ranked higher than them.
The loss also marks the end of Ohio's road schedule, as all of their remaining games are now at home.
For the Bobcats, finishing the season at home must be considered a relief as the Bobcats struggled on the road, finishing 11-9-1 away from Bird Arena.
Ohio returns home next week when it takes on the nation's top ranked team, Penn State, from their friendly confines of Bird Arena where it hasn't lost all season.
