Vaccine Requirement Would Bar Students From Class
< < Back to ?p=3011A new West Virginia law requires all seventh and 12th graders to be vaccinated for tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis and meningitis before entering the 2012-13 school year.
Under the law, students who don't show proof of vaccination will be barred from class.
Kanawha-Charleston Board of Health President Brenda Isaac said at a recent board meeting that she thinks the state's Division of Immunization Services should better advertise the new rules.
The law affects both public and private school students.
Tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis vaccines can be delivered in a single "Tdap" shot.
