NELSONVILLE, Oh (WOUB) – The Bellaire Big Red and he Nelsonville-York Buckeye’s round one playoff matchup was set on friday night.

The game started off with both teams struggling a little bit on offense, while both teams’ defenses were on their A-game to start off the first quarter.

Both teams seemed like they needed a few plays on offense before they could think about putting up any points on the board.

It would not be until 3:38 to go in the first quarter when the Buckeye’s would score the first touchdown of the game making it 6-0 with a missed extra point.

That touchdown was scored by Nelsonville-York’s Landon Inman.

Bellaire would not respond in the remaining minutes of the first quarter; the score would be 6-0 Buckeye’s heading into the 2nd. Early into the second quarter Bellaire would respond with a touchdown by Drew White to tie the game 6-6.

About 3 minutes later, Gavin Richards would score for the Buckeye’s, the score is now 12-6 with another missed extra point.

That score would remain and it would be Nelsonville-York with the lead heading to halftime. With the stakes in this game being so high, the anticipation was stacking up for a tight 3rd quarter for both teams.

Both teams seemed rested and recharged after the half, but the story of the second half would be the Buckeyes, after a touchdown and a faked extra point that would finish off Bellaire; the Buckeyes would go on to win the game 20-12.

The Buckeyes now look to play West Jefferson in the second round of the playoffs.

West Jefferson beat 15 seed Grove City Christian with that score being 45-14, West Jefferson.

Both of these teams are going to have some confidence after a round one victory, and this upcoming game will be an interesting one to watch between these two great teams.
