Generals’ offense explodes in rematch against Raiders winning 49-28

THORNVILLE, Oh (WOUB) – The two seed Sheridan Generals welcomed in the 15-seed Morgan Raiders to Paul Culver Jr. Stadium in a rematch of week four – a game Sheridan won 29-13.
The 15 next to Morgan’s name was deceiving. This was a good team that played with Tri-Valley and West Muskingum, along with their first bout against Sheridan.
You wouldn’t have been able to tell it was a two versus 15 on the first drive as the Raiders marched down the field behind the arms and legs of quarterback Logan Nicewanger. They picked up multiple third and longs, capping off the drive by converting a fourth and 2 with a 15-yard touchdown pass from Nicewanger to Hayden Bankes.
The ensuing drive, Sheridan did their best to answer, getting down to the Morgan three-yard line. However, on a fourth and goal, Caden Sheridan’s pass was picked off by Haiden Pauley at the one.
It was a great stop, but the Generals defense stuffed the Raiders on the next three plays and forced a punt, giving them great field position.
Caden Sheridan scored two plays later from 22 yards out, knotting the game up at seven.
It would be all Sheridan the rest of the half as the Generals scored 21 more unanswered points. Zack Hines punched it in from a yard the very next play after ripping off a huge run.
Then after a AJ Winders interception, Justin Munyan scored from 10 yards. Caden Sheridan scored on the ground just before the half to give the Generals a 28-7 lead.
The two teams went back and forth in the second half. Morgan recovered an onside kick to open the half and Nicewanger ran it in from 12 yards.
Munyan responded with a 71-yard touchdown run two plays later, giving the Generals back the three-touchdown lead.
Nicewanger found Adam Cooper all alone in the back of the end zone on the ensuing drive to cut the deficit again, but it wouldn’t last long.
Bryson Huff took the touch pass from Caden Sheridan for 20-yards and the score. Huff marked the fourth General to find paydirt on the night, an impressive feat for the Sheridan offense.
Nicewanger’s fourth touchdown came through the air again after eluding a sack and finding Hayden Bankes behind the coverage. The 33-yard touchdown made it 42-28.
Munyan scored his third touchdown of the night and the one that would seal the game from 59 yards out. He finished the night with 200 yards and three scores on just nine carries.
Sheridan as an offense ran for 439 yards on 41 totes.
The offensive explosion is the third time they’ve gone over 40 points in a game this season. They move on to face seven-seed Gallia Academy. For Morgan, they finish the season 6-5 and
Nicewanger breaks the 3,000-yard all-purpose mark after his 430 yard all purpose night.
