ATHENS, OH – Dylan Westmeyer, a journalism news and information major, came to Ohio University from Uniontown, Ohio to become a sports broadcaster. Because of WOUB, that’s exactly what he did.

“I wanted to go into sports broadcasting and was looking into University’s with good journalism programs. I looked into Ohio University and never looked back,” said Westmeyer. “I was able to gain so many real-life skills at WOUB. Through WOUB I was able to learn much about myself and it helped decide where I wanted to go post-graduation.”

Westmeyer is graduating this month. He started working at WOUB in the spring of his sophomore year. He was a reporter for WOUB’s high school football program, Gridiron Glory, WOUB’s high school basketball program, Hardwood Heroes, and an anchor for WOUB’s nightly half-hour news program, NewsWatch.

“My experience at WOUB was so important to me as I have met so many people that I know will be there for me for the rest of my life.”

Even though Westmeyer is graduating from Ohio University, he is not done with college.

“I have been accepted into graduate school at John Carroll University to pursue a master’s degree in Sports Leadership. I will be playing collegiate tennis, as I still have three semesters of Collegiate eligibility. I also have a job lined up to be the assistant tennis coach at St. Vincent St. Mary’s High School.”
