Girls Basketball: “Hero of the Week” Carly Tabler, Fed Hock
< < Back to girls-basketball-hero-week-carly-tabler-fed-hockThe Federal Hocking Lady Lancers have something that many teams in the Tri-Valley Conference only wish for: a full starting lineup from top to bottom returning for next season.
Leading the way for the Lady Lancers was the youngest player on the team, freshman Carly Tabler. Tabler consistently used her quickness to pickpocket offensive players, turning those turnovers into points by converting at a very high rate on fast breaks. Tabler and Cheyenne Singer teamed up to create an excellent high-low game which made for a very improved Lancers squad.
Tabler put on a clinic in the playoffs ten days ago against a tough Symmes Valley team. She took the ball strong to the basket, recorded six steals on the defensive side of the ball, and knocked down several jumpers en route to a 23 point effort in a 47-43 win. Earlier in the season, the standout freshman recorded a career high 36 points against Trimble.
The Lady Lancers should have a formidable team next year. They will have stability at head coach for the first time in three years combined with a roster full of experience and depth. The team is a long way from the "Iron Five" team of 2011, when the Lady Lancers did not win a game. Tri-Valley teams should not sleep on Fed Hock next year, especially after Tabler and Co. snagged a win in the postseason. If the team can continue to develop and improve, expect a contender next year, with Carly Tabler leading the way.
