TVC-Ohio Boys’ Standings
1. Meigs Marauders | 9-5 (Conf. 5-1)

Meigs had a week off before their lone game this week; however, that game was a very important one against Wellston, who was tied with the Marauders at the top of the Ohio standings.
Meigs jumped out to a 21-13 lead after the first quarter and a huge run right before half propelled them to a 13-point lead at the break. However, the Golden Rockets had a strong comeback in the third, cutting the lead down to five. A strong final period of play got the game out of reach and gave the Marauders the win 77-62.
Carson Davis led the way with 21 points, Colben Beucler followed with 20 and Owen Tracy finished with 18. Meigs also got strong contributions from their other two starters, Griffin Hudson and Gunner Cleland.
Meigs now have the TVC-Ohio all to themselves and control their own destiny if they win out. Next week the Marauders feature a strong nonconference opponent in Fairfield Union, and they hit the road for their lone conference game against Alexander.
2. Wellston Golden Rockets | 9-2 (Conf. 5-1)

Despite splitting their games last week, the Wellston Golden Rockets experienced a major setback in their hunt for a TVC-Ohio title. Wellston began their week by dispatching River Valley 72-56. However, in their matchup with TVC-Ohio leaders Meigs, the Golden Rockets fell short, losing 77-62.
Despite the loss, Wellston still has a chance to clinch a share of the TVC-Ohio title. To clinch the title, the Golden Rockets must win out while Meigs must lose one more TVC-Ohio game.
Wellston will start this week with a nonconference matchup against Berne Union on Tuesday. The Golden Rockets will then return to conference play with a road trip to Athens on Friday.
3. Vinton County Vikings | 6-7 (Conf. 5-2)

It was a big week for the Vinton County Vikings as they faced two strong conference opponents. A home game against Athens provided them with a 68-59 win and season sweep. The Athens game also set the Vikings up for success against Alexander on Friday night. VC played a tough defense matchup in the Alley and walked away with a 52-41 victory.
The Vikings have two games this week, the first being against New Hope Christian Academy on Tuesday night at home. They then play at Nelsonville-York on Friday which is set to be a heavy weight conference matchup.
4. Nelsonville-York Buckeyes | 7-5 (Conf. 3-3)

Coming off a hot week, with wins over Athens and Trimble, the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes split the two TVC-Ohio matchups they saw this week. A blowout 93-60 win over Alexander on Tuesday, and a close road loss to River Valley on Friday. In both games, Sophomore Champ Schultz stuck out, with 26 and 29 points scored respectively.
The Buckeyes have a packed second half of their week coming up, with three games scheduled in the span of four days. Miller on Wednesday, Vinton County (a crucial TVC-Ohio matchup) on Friday, and Logan on Saturday.
5. River Valley Raiders | 5-8 (Conf. 2-5)

The River Valley Raiders won only one of their three games last week. River Valley dropped their first game of the week to Wellston 72-56, but turned the ship around to defeat Nelsonville-York 71-66. However, River Valley could not carry the momentum from the Nelsonville-York game into a matchup with in-county rivals South Gallia. The Raiders lost to their rivals 56-43.
River Valley has only one game this week. The Raiders will visit Waterford on Tuesday.
6.Athens Bulldogs | 4-7 (Conf. 2-4)

The Athens Bulldogs played two games this week, dropping both contests.
In their first bout against Vinton County, Athens lost 68-59 in a close contest. Athens led by nine points early in the third quarter; sophomore Collin Chapman led the way with 16 points and 11 assists. The team shot 46 percent, but as the Vikings began to come back, they struggled to maintain their offensive momentum and faltered defense.
Vinton County’s three-point shooters were too much for the team to contain on the perimeter, with six Vikings making at least one three-pointer.
VC made 13 threes as a team and effectively achieved the season’s sweep against the Bulldogs. Athens has not defeated the Vikings since February 2021.
In their second game of the week, the team traveled to take on out-of-conference opponent Marietta. It was the Tigers who defeated the Bulldogs in the first round of the postseason tournament last year, and they beat them once again, 58-46.
Their loss against Vinton County dropped the Bulldogs further in the TVC standings, but they will have a chance to get back in the win column this week with two home games against Federal Hocking and Wellston.
7. Alexander Spartans | 3-10 (Conf. 1-5)

The Alexander Spartans had a jam-packed week with three games, two of which were conference games.
Their first game was against the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes in efforts to get their first sweep of the year. The last time they faced off, the Spartans won 65-55. Since then, Alexander has not won a single conference game, and that did not change this week as the Buckeyes put on a dominant performance, winning 93-60.
Their second conference game was against the Vinton County Vikings, who completed their sweep against the Spartans with a win on Friday. Their first matchup ended with a Vinton County win, 74-65. In their rematch, it was more of the same with the Vikings taking the game 52-41.
Their last game of the week was against the nonconference Southeastern Panthers. Sadly this story would have a similar ending to the rest of the week with the Panthers beating the Spartans losing 52-39.
Alexander will look to get back on track and find another conference win next week. The Spartans will stay home for the week, facing the Trimble Tomcats on Jan. 20 and Meigs on Jan. 23.
TVC-Ohio Girls’ Standings
1. Athens Bulldogs | 8-3 (Conf. 5-0)

The Lady Bulldogs had an interesting week, as they did not face any conference opponents. Their game, scheduled for Jan. 15 against River Valley, was canceled due to inclement weather and rescheduled for the last week of their regular season on Feb. 12.
Athens had a busy week regardless, facing off against the Federal Hocking Lady Lancers on Monday night. The respective top teams in their conferences, this was an intense matchup that went into overtime, with Federal Hocking pulling away with the victory, 46-41.
The Lady Bulldogs finished their week against Wheelersburg, defeating them 48-31. Athens was 4-3 against nonconference opponents heading into this matchup, so this win gave them more confidence in their style of play, something they will need when the postseason tournament begins in a month.
The team will take the short ride down the road to face rival Alexander in a pivotal rematch. The Lady Bulldogs won at home a month ago, and the Lady Spartans will be hungry for a win after falling behind Vinton County and River Valley in the conference standings.
2. Vinton County Vikings | 10-5 (Conf. 5-2)

It was a light week for the Vinton County Lady Vikings with only two games. Their first game was a 60-56 win over the Alexander Spartans. A weather cancellation on Thursday against Logan Elm saw their second game of the week Saturday Night. The Jackson Ironladies stunned the Lady Vikes in a 47-29 upset. VC scored only nine points in the first half and struggled to get going after that.
Another two games this week for the Vikings who play tomorrow night against Sheridan. Their only conference game this week is against Nelsonville-York who are a similar opponent to Jackson. The Vikings will need a big turn aroundgame against Sheridan if they want to be successful against NY.
T3. River Valley Raiders | 7-7 (Conf. 4-3)

The River Valley Raiders lost what turned out to be their only game of the week on Monday. The Raiders lost to Nelsonville-York 44-40 clinching a season split with the Buckeyes. The Raiders were scheduled to play Athens on Thursday, but due to snow, that game was postponed to Feb. 12.
River Valley will have a good chance to get back on track this week. The Raiders will visit 2-12 Meigs on Thursday and host Southern, which is 0-7 in TVC-Hocking play, on Saturday.
T3. Alexander Spartans | 10-5 (Conf. 4-3)

The Alexander Spartans are looking to make big waves in the week ahead, despite seeing their three-game winning streak snapped by a tough loss to Vinton County. The Vikings earned a 60–56 win in The Alley.
The game stayed close throughout, with Alexander relying on scrappy defensive play to stay in contention. Offensive struggles, however, proved costly for the Spartans, as missed screens in the paint disrupted their rhythm and made scoring difficult down the stretch. Meanwhile, Vinton County maintained its lead and closed out the game.
Alexander faces a busy week ahead with matchups across both the TVC-Hocking and TVC-Ohio. The Spartans will host Trimble on Monday, followed by a home game against Athens on Thursday. They will wrap up the week on the road with a Saturday matchup against the Federal Hocking Lancers.
5. Nelsonville-York Buckeyes | 5-10 (Conf. 4-4)

The Lady Buckeyes found themselves back in the winning column two times this week, with wins over River Valley and Meigs. Both proved to be important conference wins, as they moved the girls to 4-4 in league play.
In the win against Meigs, Nelsonville-York saw some increased production from Sophomores Cam Jolley and Veda Stalder, who scored seven and 12, respectively. Madi Pidcock had a defensive masterclass as well, totaling four steals and three blocks in the contest.
The Lady Buckeyes look to a nonconference game on Monday against South Gallia, followed by a TVC-Ohio game against Vinton County on Friday. They will then wrap up their week against Logan on Saturday night.
6. Meigs Marauders | 2-13 (Conf. 2-6)

The Lady Marauders had two games on the schedule this week against Wellston and Nelsonville-York. Meigs started the week off with a very important 54-40 win over Wellston at home.
Meigs relied on their guard play heavily in this contest, mainly Shelby Yost and Aladine Hysell and Shelby Yost. Yost led the way with 19 points in the win.
Thursday’s game against Nelsonville-York was also another great performance from Yost; this time she scored over 20 against the Buckeyes. However, the Marauders fell to Nelsonville-York 48-36, despite a great effort.
Next week Meigs will have Marietta and River Valley, both at home.
7. Wellston Golden Rockets | 0-14 (Conf. 0-7)

The Wellston Golden Rockets’ losing streak increased to 19 games last week. Wellston dropped a pair of TVC-Ohio contests, losing to Vinton County 65-40 and Meigs 54-40.
The Golden Rockets will have a golden opportunity to snap their losing streak this week. Wellston will host the Western Indians, who are riding a 40-game losing streak, on Wednesday and 1-5 Ross County Christian on Thursday.
