John Glenn Muskies Preview
< < Back to john-glenn-muskiesThe John Glenn Muskies football team looks to improve on the football field this year after coming off of a 5-5 season last year. However, this task will be especially hard for the Muskies since they are lining up a new quarterback this season. The loss of last years quarterback Jake Hagan will be a very difficult task to overcome. Hagan was a 2-year starter at the quarterback position and a 4-year varsity member. He also played halfback, split back, safety, and punter! Looking to fill his shoes under the center is senior Joe Fergueson. The Muskies’ success this season will more than likely fall on the shoulders of Fergueson.
Also leading the team this year is senior captain Dallas Morgan who plays both ways on the offensive and defensive lines. Morgan played varsity minutes on the field as a freshman, so the coach John Kelley is hoping that all of Dallas’ experience will benefit those around him and make the team better. John Glenn fans also have Heath Dawson to look forward to as he will be playing both ways as a split back and a safety. Coach Kelley says that some of the players are a bit “dinged up” from their two-a-day practices but “that’s just part of the game” and he doesn’t think that these minor injuries will effect the team come opening week.
The Muskies are looking forward to their opening game at Barnesville because it should be a good measure for the rest of the season. Coach Kelley said, “Historically, the opening game has set the pace for the rest of the season.” John Glenn finished last season on a 2-game losing streak, and look to turn things around heading in to their 2011 season.
