Week three McClain Tigers vs Paint Valley Bearcats
< < Back toGreenfield, OH (WOUB) – This Rivalry there is such a history that there is a trophy for this game between the two called the battle of 41 trophy. As of now, the Tigers are 2-0 beating both Adena and Northwest by multiple scores, usually only allowing their opponent to score once.
Paint Valley on the other hand is the complete opposite from McClain. On one hand they are 0-2, losing 41-0 to Valley as well as getting another loss to Vinton County 60-33. The main difference being that the Bearcats are not as dominant as the Tigers.
McClain gets the ball in the first quarter and is off to a rusty start. But after a few short gains and a sack by Jacob Dyer, the Tigers finally find momentum after a 30-yard dot from Lovett to Marsh to the 10-yard line. Shortly after Hunter Peabody receives a 10-yard touchdown pass to get on the board first with 8:21 left in the first. After a few passes by Paint Valley’s quarterback, they eventually punt it back to the Tigers with 4:50 left.
After a few runs played by McClain, Lovett throws a 42-yard bomb to Gavin Anderson for a first down inside the redzone. Bentley Marsh ran in for six to give his team a two-score lead with 2:05 left in the first. With 50 seconds left to play in the first Brody Binegar intercepts Ison to give the Tigers the ball back for another chance to score.
Lovett keeps the ball for a 19-yard touchdown run to go up 21-0 with 30 seconds left in the first quarter. Paint valley ends with the ball as the first quarter winds down to zeros with the score being 21-0 Tigers. Paint Valley made it all the way down to the Tiger 14 eventually getting to fourth down.
The Bearcats refused to give up and decided to go for on fourth down but were unsuccessful due to a catch of the ball but being out of bounds. After a few punts Paint Valley gets the ball and is immediately picked off by Lovett who runs it in for a touchdown making it 28-0, with 7:35 left in the half. After a Paint Valley punt, Binegar finds the endzone to give the until Binegar finds the endzone to give the Tigers a 35-0 lead at halftime with a running clock to start in the second.
In the third and fourth quarters it was the McClain show with the Tigers scoring one in the third and two in the fourth. After a huge pass, Binegar rams into the endzone to boost the score to 42-0. After that McClain started to replace the lineup with backups. With two rushing touchdowns into the endzone, the final score became 56-0 Tigers winning the rivalry.
