Lancaster Continues With Fourth Of July Celebrations
< < Back to lancaster-continues-fourth-july-celebrationsLancaster residents are finding a way to continue their annual Fourth of July celebration this year despite the chaos caused by Friday's severe storm.
American Electric Power is using the city's fairgrounds as home base for all of their operations throughout Fairfield County.
Randy Groff, Parade Committee Chairman, says he still plans on using the fairgrounds as the parade's start and end point, but will keep clear of work crews.
"We had to make sure that we could concentrate on the first priority, which is keeping AEP working and keeping their access free and clear so they can get their work crews in and out and we do not hamper that in any way," said Groff.
Groff says AEP has nearly 150 trucks and crew members on site working in 16-hour shifts during all parts of the day and night.
"Everything is certainly going to be a challenge this year. We are not sure how it is going to work until it works, but we will adapt, improvise and overcome," he said.
Although fallen and loose trees are still being removed from the grounds, Groff says the parade is planned to start at 10 a.m.and the fireworks will be shot off around 10 p.m.
