Number Of Jobless West Virginians Rises

Workforce West Virginia said Tuesday that the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose one-tenth of a percentage point to 7 percent last month.
The national unemployment rate was unchanged at 8.2 percent.
Job losses in the goods-producing sector included 600 in construction and 200 in mining and logging.
The service-providing sector had a decline of 400 jobs. Employment gains in professional and business services, government and other services were offset by job declines leisure and hospitality, trade, transportation and utilities, and financial activities.
The state's unadjusted jobless rate remained at 7.3 percent in June.
