Alcohol Not A Factor In Double Fatal Accident
< < Back to alcohol-not-factor-double-fatal-accidentThere was no alcohol in the system of a West Virginia man who was involved in an accident that killed an Albany couple.
Mary Hart, 70, and her husband, Fred Hart, 72, were killed in July after their vehicle was struck from behind by a second vehicle driven by William O'Connor, 34, of Fairmont, West Virginia.
Lieutenant Jeff Skinner of the Athens post of the State Highway Patrol says blood alcohol test results on O'Connor have come back showing no alcohol was in his system at the time of the accident.
He says his office is still waiting on the toxicology report to see if any drugs were in O'Connor's system and a final accident reconstruction report before determining what charges will be filed in the case.
The accident happened on U.S. 50 near Albany.
Investigators at the time said "driver inattention" is likely what caused the crash.
O'Connor was not hurt in the collision.
