< < Back to two-weekly-awards-ohio-volleyballThe Ohio volleyball team went 1-2 over the weekend while hosting the Baymont Invitational, but two Bobcats stood out and swept the Mid-American Conference weekly awards. Serena Warner and Kelly Lamberti were named Defensive and Offensive MAC East Players of the week, respectively.
Warner earns her first weekly award after recording 17 kills, hitting .400 and leading the squad with 15 blocks over the weekend. Lamberti, who is no stranger to MAC honors, led Ohio in kills over the weekend against two ranked opponents. She also earned a match-high six blocks against both of the top notch opponents. The sophomore had a double-double against No. 10 Kentucky with 18 kills and 11 digs as well.
Ohio stands at 1-5 on the season, with a its only victory coming from a 3-0 defeat over Western Carolina. Yet, Ohio's five losses have come from some of the nation's greatest. The 'Cats have gone up against five of the top 20 teams ranked in the American Volleyball Coaches Association so far this season.
The 'Cats host another tournament this weekend and welcome Niagara, Belmont, and another Bobcat team in Montana State. Saturday's game against Montana State will be a homecoming of sorts. Former Ohio assistant Kyle Weindel is in his first season as head coach of Montana State.
