Scioto Co. Crash Claims One, Injures Three

A Lawrence County man died following a crash between two trucks Wednesday afternoon on Ohio 104 just north of Ohio 348, according to a news release from the Ohio Highway Patrol in Scioto County.

Freddie Hayes Sr., 75, of Scottown, Ohio, was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital and later died from his injuries.
 
Hayes was driving a box truck north on Ohio 104 when it crashed into the rear of a Ford F-150 truck stopped to make a left turn into a parking lot at the Briar Patch Convenience Store. 
 
The crash happened about 1:05 p.m. Wednesday.
 
The driver of the Ford F-150 truck, a 38-year-old man from Franklin Furnace, Ohio, was taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center with injuries described an non-life threatening.
 
Two men who were passengers in each of the trucks, also were taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
The crash remains under investigation.
