District, Union Put Differences Aside For Levy
< < Back to district-union-put-differences-aside-levyCambridge City Schools leaders say recent heated negotiations will be set aside as the district and teachers' union focus on passing a renewal levy on the ballot next month.
In light of the upcoming levy, negotiations will be temporarily tabled, in order to put full resources behind the five-year, 6.64 mill levy for the schools.
The district estimates the renewal levy, if passed, will generate approximately $1.45 million for the schools.
Superintendent Dennis Dettra stressed that a renewal levy will not raise taxes.
This will be the third time the Cambridge City Schools will have a levy issue on the ballot, but it will be the District's first attempt to pass a renewal levy, alone.
During the March primary election, a combination levy was defeated, 54 percent to 46 percent.
