< < Back to missing-hunter-found-lawrence-countyA hunter reported missing by his wife on Sunday was found alive yesterday three miles from his original location.
Don Nickels, 59, of Raceland, Kentucky was found after an extensive search both on foot and on four-wheeler.
When Nickels was found by forestry officials Tuesday afternoon, Sheriff Jeff Lawless says he was very confused but had not been injured.
"He got disoriented in the woods after it got dark and got turned around and went the wrong direction instead of heading back to the vehicle," says Lawless.
Lawless says his officers were very concerned about what may have happened to Nickles while he was in the woods.
"After he had apparently lost his way, the concern was, did he harm himself, fall down and be injured or is he just wandering, lost in the in the woods?"
The Lawrence County Sheriff says Nickels has high blood pressure and may have a slight case of dementia.
