Red-Hot Buckeyes Not Overlooking Vinton County

When a team has won six straight games going into the ninth week of the regular season, and has a meeting with their arch rivals the following week, it can be easy to overlook a team that only has one win to their name.
This is the situation that the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes find themselves in going into their Week 9 matchup against Vinton County.
The Buckeyes (6-2, 3-0 TVC-Ohio) head to Vinton County (1-7, 0-3 TVC-Ohio) this Friday hoping not to suffer a setback in their hunt for the TVC-Ohio crown. A Buckeye win over the Vikings would keep Nelsonville-York on pace for a Week 10 matchup against the Athens Bulldogs that could potentially decide the TVC-Ohio champion.
But even with so much to play for next week, Buckeyes head coach, Dave Boston knows that this one-win Vikings team will be ready to play come Friday night.
"Vinton County always plays us very well", Boston said. "They always come out fast and physical".
Coming into this week’s matchup, both teams have been heading in completely opposite directions. The Vikings are coming off a forgettable 51-0 loss at Athens last week, and have now lost four in a row. The Buckeyes on the other hand took care of business last Friday night with a 55-7 thumping over Alexander.
If history repeats itself, Vinton County isn’t going to be in for a fun Friday night. The Buckeyes trounced the Vikings at home last season by a score of 41-0, but there’s a reason the games are played on Friday nights.
The game is scheduled for a 7:30 kickoff Friday night.
