Ohio Sweeps Weekend Series With Arizona
< < Back to ohio-sweeps-weekend-series-arizonaOhio dominated Arizona in a physical shut out, 4-0 to improve its record to 10-0 on the season. But tension from Friday’s narrow victory boiled over Saturday into a third period that saw six players ejected.
The first period started slow until Tyler Benson scored one for the Bobcats, assisted by Michael Harris and Mike Kretz. After that the Ohio players caught fire on the ice and scored two goals within minutes of each other. The first was slapped in by JD Howard, assisted by Tyler Benson, and the second was scored by Nick Rostek, assisted by Michael Harris and Tyler Pilmore.
The second period was relative silence that just served to frustrate players and build tensions for the eruption that occurred in the third period.
The Bobcats scored one goal in the third period that was owned and assisted by Mike Kretz. But that was not the most exciting part of the third period. Tempers and fists started to fly with 36 seconds left in the game. Within those 36 seconds, Ohio’s Paul Sergi, Brett Agnew, Johnathan Pietramala and Johnathon Gulch and Arizona’s David Rizk and Eric Watters were all ejected.
The Bobcats play again next weekend when they play the Liberty University Flames at LaHaye Ice Center in Lynchburg, Va. They will continue their drive to stay undefeated and the top ranked team in the American Collegiate Hockey Association.
