Lake Stabilization Project Cost In The Millions

Stabilizing four lakes in the Muskingum watershed area this winter will cost $1.6 million dollars.
The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District expects to complete 20 projects at Atwood Lake, Leesville Lake, Pleasant Hill Lake and Tappan Lake.
Each of the lakes have shoreline erosion and stability concerns.
The money will come from owners of properties along the Muskingum River Watershed.
The projects will be completed during the winter "drawdown" period.
Between the months of November and March the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers temporarily reduces the water level in the lakes by releasing 22 million gallons of water, reducing the water level of the lakes by three to eight feet.
