Ohio Moves Forward With Health Care Overhaul
< < Back to ohio-moves-forward-health-care-overhaulOhio's Republican lieutenant governor is maintaining the new federal health care law is flawed.
Still, she says, the state is moving forward with the overhaul.
States face a Friday deadline to let federal officials know if they will be setting up new health insurance markets under the law.
States that can't or won't set up these new insurance exchanges will have theirs run by Washington.
Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor, who also heads the state's insurance department, said Tuesday the governor will express in his letter Friday that the law has many uncertainties.
And she says Ohio's goal is to let the federal government run the exchange, while the state keeps its authority to regulate health plans.
The arrangement means Ohio would have until mid-February to submit a more detailed blueprint.
