Fast Start Lifts Wellston Over Trimble
< < Back to fast-start-lifts-wellston-over-trimbleOn Thursday night the Trimble Lady Tomcats were hoping to pick up their first win of the season with the Wellston Lady Golden Rockets rolling into town. The Lady Tomcats will have to wait for that first victory, as they were defeated 43-24.
Trimble dug themselves into a deep hole start the game off, falling behind 18-2 after the first quarter. Wellston played suffocating defense all game, forcing 20 turnovers. Both offenses struggled in the second quarter, however, as Trimble outscored Wellston 6-5.The offenses would pick it up in the third quarter, but Wellston would avoid giving up their comfortable lead.
Ultimately, Wellston’s duo of Taylor Folden and Jordan Davis proved to be too much for the Lady Tomcat’s. Folden finished the game with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Davis had a balanced game of seven points, six rebounds and four steals.
Trimble got their best play from Emily McKee who finished with five points and seven rebounds. Nicole Kish, Demi Moore and Ricki Ahle each contributed four points for the Tomcats.
Trimble really hurt themselves on the boards as they got outrebounded 33 to 24, with 15 of Wellston’s rebounds being offensive. Wellston was also more aggressive which resulted in nine points via the free throw line.
Trimble’s next game is Monday, December 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Wahama High School.
