Sharp Increase In Flu Cases In Hospitials In Chillicothe Area

Flu season is starting, it seems, at least in the Chillicothe area.
Adena Health System reports a sharp increase in the number of flu cases being seen in its facilities.
So much so that, beginning Monday, no visitors under the age of 14 will be permitted to visit patients at Adena hospitals in Chillicothe, Greenfield and Waverly.
The policy will remain in effect until further notice. Adena Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Fortney says they want to keep patients safe from further illness. Another reason is to help protect child visitors from unnecessary contact with those who may be carrying the flu virus.
Adena physicians have seen almost triple the number of cases in the first 12 days of December compared to the entire month of November.
108 cases have been confirmed this month.
