Nelsonville police say they've arrested three young men in connection with the damage.
Twenty-four-year-old Justin Huling of Cincinnati and 23-year-old Taylor Whitehill of Mason are facing felony vandalism charges, while 24-year-old James Degrace of West Chester faces a misdemeanor charge of failure to report a crime.
Huling and Whitehill were in town visiting Degrace, a student at Hocking College.
Police Sgt. Ed Kurtz says the men were drunk when they left a neighborhood bar and destroyed two nutcrackers that were decorating a main street for the holidays.
The nutcrackers cost a combined $650. It's unclear whether the young men yet have attorneys.
