< < Back to teens-charged-old-school-building-theftThree teenage boys from the Chauncey area are accused of entering the old Chauncey Elementary School and stealing electronic equipment.
Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly says his deputies received a complaint Wednesday that the Athens Meigs Educational Service, which is housed in the old school building, had been entered.
Several laptop computers and a number of iPads had been stolen.
A deputy at a residence on an unrelated case noticed five batteries laptop batteries and later uncovered the computers.
A 12-year-old confessed that he, a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old had gotten into the school in late December through an unlocked window.
He told officers he planned to sell the equipment on E-bay.
Kelly says the three have been charged with breaking and entering and released to their parents.
