Cooper Selected As MAC Player Of The Week
< < Back to cooper-selected-mac-player-weekOhio guard D.J. Cooper was recognized as the MAC Men’s Basketball East Division Player of the Week for the second time this season after posting a career-high 17 assists against Marshall on Saturday.
Cooper also scored 12 points against the Thundering Herd, recording his fourth double-double of the season. He pulled down six rebounds and had four steals in the Bobcats’ 94-57 win, the greatest margin of victory against Marshall in the 93-year rivalry.
Cooper’s 17 assists matched the MAC all-time record and broke the Ohio school record. He now has 811 assists and is nine away from cracking the top 25 in the NCAA Division I history.
Cooper is currently third in the nation with 8.5 assists a game. The nation’s leader, Syracuse’s Michael Carter-Williams, is averaging 9.8 assists per game.
Cooper and the Bobcats will begin MAC play this Wednesday against Buffalo in the Convocation Center.
